About Me
My name is Lisa Milbourn
I've always embraced a diverse path in my career.
My journey has taken me from the classroom to the boardroom, hospital corridors and courtrooms, teaching that innovative thinking often leads to the best solutions.
In education, I earned my B.Ed and M.Ed in Special Educational Needs, ultimately becoming a Head where I championed inclusion and drove school improvement. My career then transitioned to healthcare as an NHS Capacity Manager, managing flow and resources in critical situations. I later pursued my passion for law, initially as a legal advisor then qualifying as a solicitor.
Currently, I work as a consultant solicitor with both Setfords and Richard Nelson LLP and as a mediator specialising in commercial and civil disputes.

What I Do...
Family Law
Family law provides advice and support for people navigating relationship breakdown and arrangements for their children.
I advise on divorce, financial settlements, separation and cohabitation agreements, and pre- and post-nuptial agreements. I also assist with child arrangements, parental responsibility, relocation and disputes about a child’s upbringing, alongside protective orders for those experiencing domestic abuse.
My approach focuses on clear advice and practical solutions, helping clients reach agreements where possible and representing their interests through court proceedings when needed.
Commercial Mediation
Commercial mediation is a confidential, voluntary process where businesses resolve disputes with an independent mediator who facilitates discussions and helps reach settlement.
This method is usually faster, cheaper, and less confrontational than court, allowing companies to maintain and control the outcome.
Civil Mediation
Civil mediation is a voluntary and confidential process for resolving disputes without court intervention. A neutral mediator facilitates communication and explores solutions without making decisions.
It is collaborative, quicker, and less costly than litigation, allowing parties to control the outcome. Mediation can address various civil disputes and often results in flexible agreements that maintain relationships.
